A happy Fourth to all! Not a terribly exciting start to the holiday weekend, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Last night was a not so great night of sleep. Both kids went to sleep early, but we had storms last night with plenty of thunder and lightning. Accalia slept through everything, but Cole was very restless for an hour or so when I came to bed. And then he woke up around 4:30 a.m. ready to go. After a diaper change and many attempts, though, he was ready to sleep again. This morning was nice with all of us snuggling together in bed. Usually Cory is gone to work or at least up when either of the kids wakes up. I wouldn't have minded sleeping in just a bit, though.

This afternoon we stopped at McDonald's for ice cream, and Accalia played in the playland for a while. She was playing with this boy probably her age or a little younger. They went into the ball pit. When I looked again, he seemed to be holding something or someone down, so I went over and he was leaning over Accalia pushing down on her face! I immediately told him to get off of her (and not in a nice way). Accalia was crying and fairly upset, and she had scratches on one cheek because the boy had apparently scratched her with his fingernails.

Both kids are cooperating very nicely with going out to see fireworks tonight. Cole had a late afternoon nap, and Accalia is still napping. Accalia will have plenty of energy for fireworks, and Cole may be starting to wind down about that time. We'll walk a few blocks down to Riverside Park and sit on a blanket and watch the display.
